Futureman Presents: New Village Orchestra

6 Time Grammy Winner, Roy “Futureman” Wooten, brings 5 Internationally acclaimed Venezuelan/Nigerian instrumentalists to Nashville State Community College for an orchestral performance that provides a diversified concept of “Americana” Music. .

On Tuesday, September 11th at 7 p.m., in H Theater at Nashville State Community College, Roy “Futureman” Wooten will present the New Village Orchestra to students and esteemed guests. This Orchestra in its totality will be comprised of the Black Mozart Ensemble, Accelerando Youth Orchestra (a small local orchestra) and 4 Nashville based International musicians (drummer Jesus Agreda, percussionist Manuel “Big Hands” Ramirez from Venezuela, keyboardist Alex Rivas and Yosveny Cordero on Bata/Cuban Percussion). The highlight of the evening will come when 5 famed Internationally acclaimed musicians take the stage together: Sunny Dada (Nigerian, the Godfather of Afrobeat and founder of Afrokoko in China), Daniel Prim (esteemed Venezuelan percussionist, member of the renowned El Sistema), Edmar Castenada (world renowned Columbian/Venezuelan Harpist), Jorge Glem (Latin Music Grammy Winner, Venezuelan Cuatro Player/Mandolinist, also a member of El Sistema) and Jeikov Vital (Founder of Tambores Bombaya, renowned Venezuelan percussionist and member of El Sistema).

For those not familiar, the legend of El Sistema is that of an orchestra led by Nobel Peace Prize nominee Jose Antonio Abreu, comprised of impoverished Venezuelan youth who would grow to grace the stages of the most highly reputed Orchestras and Philharmonics around the world. The most famous of which being Gustavo Dudamel, the conductor of the LA Philharmonic. Three of the five international artists performing at this show are members of this historic group (Daniel, Jorge and Jeikov). The combination of these performers with Wooten’s Black Mozart Ensemble will offer an in-depth and relevant look into the full array of the music of the Americas, and its European and African influences. This event has free admission.
